CM AUTOMOTIVE SYSTEMS INNOVATIVE DIRECT MOUNT WHEEL VALVE

The CM Automotive Central Tire Inflation System (CTIS) is a state of the art electromechanical system that allows the driver to control the air pressure in the tires for improved performance of the tires and of the vehicle while the vehicle is either stationary or in motion.  The tires are permanently connected to a centrally-located pressure control unit through a wheel valve directly mounted to the wheel.

The direct-mounted wheel valve requires air to be routed from a port on the hub to the CTIS wheel valve and from the wheel valve to the tire cavity. No hoses are necessary.

The integration of the direct mount wheel valve to the wheel streamlines the CTIS installation by eliminating most of the ‘plumbing’ to and from the wheel valve.  Air channels are built inside the rim, and the wheel valve is mounted to the face of the wheel.  This design drastically reduces cost per tire, the number of components, possible leaks and it simplifies assembly, serviceability and maintenance.

Benefits of CM Automotive Systems Direct Mount Wheel Valve:

Direct Mount WV

Advantages: Components = 3, Hoses = 0, Wheel Valve Weight = ~ 4 oz

  • Lower costs
  • Simplified installation and serviceability
  • Less components (2 parts only)
  • Improved reliability and MTBF
  • Reduces logistic cost due to fewer components
  • Protective cover (optional)

Other Manufacture’s Wheel and Wheel Valve Requirements WV with Hoses

Disadvantages: Components = 13, Hoses = 3, Weight = ~ 4 lbs !!!

  • Cost ineffective
  • Excesive tire wear
  • Unsustainable speeds on high mobility vehicles

The Marine Corps Systems Command has awarded General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems, St. Petersburg, Florida, a contract for the delivery of both Expeditionary Fire Support System (EFSS) and the V-22 Internally Transportable Vehicle (ITV). The prime mover for the EFFS (a towed 120 mm rifled mortar and a towed ammo supply trailer) and the ITV,V-22 fueled-powered vehicle will be built by American Growler who teamed up with General Dynamics and together presented a vehicle for this competition which was much more technologically advanced than the other competing vehicles. The contract, the information says, has an initial value of $18 million with options which if exercised, will bring the total cumulative value of the contract to $300 million. Work for this contract which was competitively procured via the Internet is expected to be completed by September 30, 2005.

Walnut, California, USA – October 19, 2004 – CM Automotive Systems, Inc. (CMASI), an ISO 9001:2000 Standard certified global leader in Central Tire Inflation Systems reported today that it has completed the design and validation of a new state-of-the-art, Handle bar and Instrument panel mounted, direct Motorcycle Tire Pressure Monitoring System (MTPMS). This innovative system, enables the motorcycle rider to monitor the pressure in the tires and the suspension while riding. CMASI announced that samples have been shipped to a premier motorcycle manufacturer dealership for evaluation and that the new MTPMS will soon be available for release into production. Since launching the development of the Motorcycle Tire Pressure Monitoring System, CMASI’s focused engineering team has made steady progress in the development of this new product. "To assure product quality and field performance, the MTPMS was subjected to extensive road and durability tests by an independent lab." Chander Mittal, CMASI’s President said.

Look for the new Motorcycle Tire Pressure Monitoring System at selected motorcycle dealerships around the country.
